The Nanning Customs announced today that recently, some netizens mistakenly spread rumors that the 600 kg of solder paste seized by the Nanning Customs from a company in another province was rare earth material. Upon verification, on March 18, the company declared one shipment of solder paste, intended for export to Thailand, to the customs in accordance with procedures. The outer packaging was labeled "low-temperature solder paste," and the inner packaging label indicated "tin-bismuth alloy," intended for electronic soldering purposes. After inspection and detection, the bismuth content in this batch of solder paste was found to be 55.3%. Bismuth belongs to the nitrogen group elements and is not a rare earth element.
According to relevant regulations, an export license must be obtained from the regulatory authorities for the export of this batch of bismuth-containing goods. As the company was unable to provide this license, the customs did not release the goods.
