Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 15, SAIC Motor's logistics subsidiary, Anji Logistics, officially named the world's largest roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) car carrier—the 9,500-vehicle-capacity "ANJI ANSHENG"—and launched its maiden voyage to Europe.

With the addition of this ultra-large ocean-going vessel, Anji Logistics now operates a fleet of 35 self-owned car carriers, further consolidating its position as China's top and one of the world's leading vehicle logistics providers. This fleet expansion aims to ease capacity bottlenecks in exports and better support the rapid global expansion of Chinese automotive brands.

SAIC Motor's aggressive shipbuilding and overseas logistics investments are driven by its sustained international growth. The company's first passenger car exports in 2001 marked the beginning of its Overseas Strategy 1.0—product exports. The establishment of its Thai manufacturing facility in 2013 signaled a shift to Strategy 2.0—localized operations. By the end of 2024, SAIC Motor had delivered more than 5.5 million vehicles to overseas markets.

Today, SAIC Motor has built a globally oriented automotive value chain encompassing R&D, marketing, logistics, components, manufacturing, finance, and used cars. Its products and services are now available in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Anji Logistics operates China's largest and one of the world's leading self-owned car carrier fleets, consisting of 11 river vessels, 9 domestic trade ships, and 15 foreign trade vessels.

By 2026, Anji Logistics' ocean-going fleet for foreign trade is expected to expand to 22 ships, with route coverage extending to Western Europe, the Mediterranean, Mexico, South America's west coast, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East—key export destinations for Chinese automakers.

At the AUTO SHANGHAI 2025, SAIC Motor unveiled its Overseas Strategy 3.0: the "Glocal Strategy", a fusion of global vision and local operations. Over the next three years, the company plans to launch 17 all-new vehicle models—including SUVs, sedans, MPVs, and pickups—targeting global markets. Many of these will feature new HEV-dedicated powertrains and groundbreaking technologies such as solid-state batteries, further advancing SAIC Motor's global branding and localized ecosystem development.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
