After Lead Prices Rise, Lead-Acid Battery Enterprises Adopt Cautious Procurement Strategies and Reduce Sales Promotions [SMM Weekly Review of Lead-Acid Battery Market]

This week, end-use consumption in the lead-acid battery market showed mediocre performance, and the sales promotions atmosphere in the battery wholesale market remained unchanged. For instance, the wholesale prices of the main model of automotive battery, 6-QW-60Ah, ranged from 180 to 260 yuan per unit. After the Labour Day holiday sales promotions in the e-bike battery market ended, some dealers have reduced their promotional efforts for batteries. For example, the wholesale price of the main model, 48V12Ah, has rebounded to above 300 yuan per set. On the producer side, most companies maintained a produce-based-on-sales strategy, with limited procurement of raw lead. In particular, as SHFE lead prices approached 17,000 yuan per tonne, downstream enterprises primarily purchased lead through long-term contracts, resulting in weak spot lead market transactions.

The domestic secondary crude lead market experienced sluggish transactions. As of February 6, 2026, the ex-factory tax-exclusive offers for domestic secondary crude lead stood at 15,250-15,400 yuan/mt. Downstream refined lead and alloy smelters gradually entered the holiday period, showing weak stockpiling willingness. Overseas lead ingot suppliers basically halted transactions with China due to poor consumption in the Chinese market, with only some previously concluded shipments maintaining normal in-transit transportation. The trading atmosphere in the secondary crude lead market will continue to weaken next week.
