In 2025, solid-state batteries, which were once thought to be distant from reality, suddenly took center stage. On April 8, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) included all-solid-state batteries in the core of new industrial standard construction for the first time. Solid-state battery technology has been making breakthroughs intensively, and mass production of solid-state batteries has entered the countdown phase.
Industry insiders stated that once solid-state batteries begin large-scale commercial use, they can not only be used in aviation but also in marine applications, completely breaking the physical boundaries of application scenarios and greatly expanding the market space. It is expected that by 2030, solid-state batteries will account for about 10% of the lithium battery market, with a market size exceeding 250 billion yuan.
"The Battle of Tomorrow" has begun
Solid-state batteries are a key variable in the global battery industry chain reconstruction and a new focus of industrial competition among major powers.
In 2025, the MIIT included all-solid-state batteries alongside intelligent manufacturing and the Industrial Internet in key areas, indicating that solid-state batteries have escalated from corporate R&D projects to national strategic initiatives.
Standard formulation is not just about technical specifications; it is also the top-level design of the industrial ecosystem. By unifying material performance indicators, production process flows, and safety testing methods, China is setting the rules framework for the global solid-state battery industry.
Battery Companies Accelerate Collectively
If in 2024, domestic companies related to solid-state batteries gradually disclosed their mass production capabilities and timelines, then starting from 2025, domestic all-solid-state battery companies have shown a collective acceleration trend.
From the perspective of corporate technological breakthroughs and mass production planning, on February 9, Changan Automobile released the Golden Bell solid-state battery, with an energy density of 400Wh/kg, supporting a driving range of 1,500km. It plans to achieve mass production of all-solid-state batteries by 2027 and complete the development of functional prototype vehicles by the end of 2025.
Gotion High-tech has successfully developed the automotive-grade sulphide all-solid-state battery "Jinshi Battery," with an energy density exceeding 400Wh/kg, and plans to initiate on-vehicle verification in 2025.
CATL has achieved milestone progress in the R&D of sulphide all-solid-state batteries, with a single-cell energy density exceeding 500Wh/kg, representing an increase of over 40% compared to current mainstream liquid lithium batteries. Small-batch production is expected to commence in 2027.
Today, all-solid-state batteries are poised for takeoff.
CIBF2025:A Ticket to the Future New Energy World
Just as 5G patents determine communication hegemony, solid-state batteries are the "ticket" to the future new energy world.May 15-17, 2025, a grand event on the future of batteries will capture the attention of the entire industry. This "17th Shenzhen International Battery Technology Exchange/Exhibition" (CIBF2025), hosted by the China Chemical and Physical Power Supply Industry Association, will grandly open at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center.
CIBF2025 is not only a milestone for industrial leap but also the starting point for the reconstruction of the global energy order. This exhibition, driven by the dual wheels of "technological sovereignty + open ecosystem," gathers over 3,200 top enterprises worldwide, covering an exhibition area of 300,000 m², focusing on collaborative innovation across the entire industry chain, releasing advanced industry achievements, and providing a "Chinese solution" for global carbon neutrality.
At the CIBF2025 Advanced Battery Frontier Technology Seminar held concurrently, numerous academic luminaries, industry giants, and representatives from authoritative institutions will focus on battery technology routes, unraveling the code to the industrialization of solid-state batteries. Among them, Professor Fengchun Sun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor at Beijing Institute of Technology, will share his insights on the progress and prospects of high-specific-energy ultra-fast-charging solid-state battery technology. Professor Xueliang Sun from Ningbo Oriental University of Technology will also present the latest advancements in halide-based all-solid-state batteries.
“The industrialization of solid-state batteries has moved from technical validation to engineering challenges, with breakthroughs in materials, equipment, and ecosystems set to reshape the global new energy industry landscape. As companies innovate comprehensively from electrode materials, electrolyte interfaces to packaging processes, they are essentially building technological barriers and stockpiling chips for future market competition,” said a relevant official from CIBF.
Standing at the turning point of the energy revolution, we invite you to join us at CIBF to witness the breakthrough moment in the industrialization of solid-state batteries.
