The Indian government has proposed retaliatory tariff measures against the US steel and aluminum tariffs to the World Trade Organization (WTO). In accordance with WTO guidelines, India reserves the right to suspend concessions or other obligations against the US. India pointed out that the US steel and aluminum tariffs would affect India's exports of originating products worth $7.6 billion, and it is expected that tariffs amounting to $1.91 billion would be imposed. India's proposed measure to suspend concessions would result in products imported from the US being taxed by an equivalent amount. The Indian government has not specified the categories of goods that may be affected.
