New Delhi: India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal have decided to impose anti-dumping duties on titanium dioxide originating in or imported from China. This move aims to alleviate the operational crisis faced by state-owned enterprises such as Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML) and Travancore Titanium Products Ltd. (TTP) due to low-priced imports. Member of Parliament Prema Chandran pointed out that import dumping has severely impacted the domestic industry, prompting the government to take protective measures. The tariff will curb unfair price competition and promote domestic production. The relevant notice is expected to be officially issued in the coming days.
