[Substantial progress has been made in the high-level economic and trade talks between China and the US, with important consensus reached and a joint statement to be issued!] According to SMM, the high-level economic and trade talks between China and the US were held in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 10 to 11. He Lifeng, the Chinese lead negotiator for economic and trade issues and Vice Premier of the State Council, stated at a press conference held by the Chinese delegation that the high-level economic and trade talks between China and the US were frank, in-depth, and constructive, with important consensus reached and substantial progress made. Both sides agreed to establish a China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism. China and the US will finalise the relevant details as soon as possible and issue the joint statement reached during the talks on May 12. He Lifeng said that under the current circumstances, the talks have attracted significant attention from the international community. Through the joint efforts of both China and the US, the talks have been fruitful, marking an important step forward in resolving differences through equal dialogue and consultation, laying the foundation and creating conditions for further bridging differences and deepening cooperation.
