Low-Sulphur Petroleum Coke Prices Decline Amid Weak Downstream Demand

Due to weak downstream demand, the price of low-sulphur petroleum coke has fallen back from highs. According to SMM data, the average price of low-sulphur petroleum coke in north-east China has been approximately 3,958 yuan/mt so far, a decrease of 7.78% compared to April 7. The price of petroleum coke from local refineries has declined due to sluggish downstream purchases, with the average price dropping to 2,434 yuan on April 14. It then briefly rebounded to 2,646 yuan/mt due to improved downstream purchases, before falling again. As of May 9, the average price was 2,433 yuan/mt, a decrease of approximately 2.37% compared to April 7.
