Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 10, 2025, Continental AG announced the successful rollout of its first locally produced sixth-generation millimeter-wave radar, the ARS620, from its manufacturing facility in China.
Continental AG's Autonomous Mobility division stated that it has long been committed to driving innovation in advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) sensors. The new sixth-generation radar represents a comprehensive upgrade over the previous generation in terms of performance, cost-efficiency, and compactness. Notably, it can now capture height data of detected objects. The ARS620 front radar is powerful enough to independently meet China’s AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) national standards, while the SRR630 corner radar, equipped with HBM high-bandwidth mode, can replace ultrasonic sensors in parking scenarios—effectively reducing overall system costs.
Building on these technical advancements, Continental's China team further optimized the product for local conditions, enhancing its cost-performance ratio and supporting broader adoption of intelligent driving technologies.
Continental's Autonomous Mobility unit in China emphasized its commitment to combining "China speed" with "German quality." On the software side, the team has implemented an optimized lean development process, shortening development cycles to six months or less without compromising quality. On the hardware front, the company has rapidly established high-standard production lines to make early mass production a reality, maintaining a lead over market competitors.
