Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 9, SAIC Mobility, the strategic mobility service brand under SAIC Motor, announced the completion of its Series C financing round, raising over 1.3 billion yuan. Marking the largest single fundraising in China's mobility service sector in the past three years, this capital injection reflects strong endorsement from both the capital market and local governments for the company's "one-stop smart mobility ecosystem" strategy.

The company stated that the Series C round brings broader strategic support from SAIC Motor, industrial funds, and local government entities. Going forward, SAIC Mobility will focus on four core technological pillars—big data, artificial intelligence, smart transportation, and intelligent safety—leveraging its early investments in fields such as Robotaxi operations and proprietary large language models. These capabilities will be applied to enhance operational efficiency, improve service quality, and elevate safety standards through AI-driven innovation in the mobility sector.

Following the new funding, SAIC Mobility has also refined its strategic blueprint, which now rests on three parallel business pillars—individual mobility, corporate mobility, and future mobility—driven by both technology and services.

In the individual mobility segment, SAIC Mobility's ride-hailing network currently operates in nearly 100 cities across China. Post-financing, the company plans to expand into overseas markets while consolidating its presence in core domestic cities. An upgraded precision operations strategy will use AI to boost dispatch efficiency and optimize the full business chain, enhancing both user experience and operational performance.

In corporate mobility, SAIC Mobility has evolved from offering basic vehicle services to building a comprehensive business travel ecosystem. Its corporate mobility service brand (named "Xiangdao Zuche" in Chinese Pinyin) now covers over 150 cities with a fleet exceeding 25,000 vehicles, serving more than 5,000 enterprise clients. It has also provided end-to-end transportation services for over 600 large-scale domestic and international events. With the Series C funding, the company will deepen its focus on long-term corporate leasing and premium chauffeur services, expanding into public transport, hotel, and dining integration to create a full-fledged business travel ecosystem centered on enterprise mobility.

In the future mobility domain, SAIC Mobility's Robotaxi business is gaining traction with high-quality commercial deployment. As China's first L4 autonomous car service platform backed by a major automaker, SAIC Mobility's Robotaxi has been in operation since 2021, completing over 330,000 rides across 48,000 service points and covering more than 2.5 million kilometers. With the new funding, the company will further leverage resources from SAIC Motor and industry partners to build a closed-loop ecosystem integrating vehicles, technology, and platform. It will collaborate with shareholder Momenta to launch an L4 Robotaxi fleet in Shanghai, aiming to scale to 200 vehicles by 2026, driving forward the sustainable and high-quality commercialization of autonomous mobility.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
