[SMM Magnesium News] SMM reported on May 9 that today's mainstream quotations for 99.90% magnesium ingot in the main producing areas were 17,200-17,300 yuan/mt, up 350 yuan/mt from the previous working day. Some smelters quoted 17,500 yuan/mt, with no transactions recorded. As magnesium prices rose to highs, downstream enterprises exhibited strong fear of high prices, with only rigid-demand customers entering the market for purchases. Transactions were sluggish today. According to an SMM survey, around 200 mt were traded at the 17,300 yuan/mt level. Downstream enterprises found it significantly challenging to keep up, and the magnesium market is expected to stabilize at highs in the subsequent period.
