【Apple Advances in R&D of Smart Glasses Chip, Smart Glasses Expected to Launch Within Two Years】
According to sources familiar with the matter, Apple (AAPL.O) has made progress in the R&D of a dedicated chip for smart glasses, indicating that the company is accelerating the development of the device to compete with Meta Platforms' popular Ray-Ban smart glasses. The glasses' processor is based on the low-power chip architecture of the Apple Watch, with a lower energy consumption level than the existing components in iPhones, iPads, and Macs. The chip has been customized by removing certain components to further enhance energy efficiency. The processor also features a specially designed multi-camera control system tailored to the imaging module of the glasses. Apple plans to commence mass production of this processor by the end of 2026 or in 2027, suggesting that if R&D proceeds smoothly, smart glasses are expected to launch within the next two years.
