Sodium-Ion Battery Industry Hits Milestone with Large-Scale Production Line Launch

This week, the sodium-ion battery industry has achieved a milestone development, with the official launch of Huzhou Yingna's 10,000 mt-scale production line for polyanion materials. The successful establishment of this production line not only signifies a major breakthrough in the industrialisation of sodium-ion battery technology but also injects strong momentum into the large-scale commercial application of sodium-ion batteries. As the upstream and downstream supporting projects of the sodium-ion battery industry chain accelerate their layout, production lines for key components such as cathode and anode materials, and battery cells will be successively completed and achieve mass production. The emergence of economies of scale will drive the continuous reduction of sodium-ion battery production costs. Meanwhile, leveraging its inherent core advantages, such as high safety and excellent C-rate performance, sodium-ion batteries will further enhance their competitiveness in niche markets like energy storage systems (ESS) and low-speed transportation, reshaping the competitive landscape of the new energy battery industry.

In January, national passenger car producers' new energy wholesale estimates reached 900,000 units, up 1% YoY.

According to the latest data from the Passenger Car Association, in December 2025, producers with new energy wholesale sales exceeding 10,000 units accounted for 93% of the total wholesale sales of passenger NEVs that month. Based on preliminary January data, these producers achieved sales of 830,000 units in January.
