Recently, several bloggers reported that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra car has updated its in-car system to version 1.7.0. This update has imposed restrictions on the vehicle's power output, locking the maximum horsepower at 1,548. Owners need to achieve certain track performance to unlock it; otherwise, they can only use approximately 900 horsepower. This issue has sparked widespread discussion.

Late on May 7th, Xiaomi Motors issued an official response and apologized twice regarding two controversies surrounding the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra car model—the changes in the unlocking conditions for the "Ranking Mode" and the unclear description of the carbon fiber dual-duct front hood functionality. The related topic #XiaomiCar# once topped the trending list.

Answers to the Questions Everyone Is Concerned About

Does the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra "Ranking Mode" feature have unlocking conditions?

In the previously pushed update version, unlocking conditions were added to the "Ranking Mode" feature, which caused confusion for some users.We deeply apologize for this.

After receiving feedback, we took it very seriously and have suspended this push. For the small number of users who have already upgraded, we will address this in the next version update. We have already started the development and testing of the new version, which is expected to take 4-8 weeks. The specific time will be announced by Xiaomi officially.

Our original intention was to better ensure driving safety, but we did not fully consult everyone's opinions, nor did we adequately communicate and explain the related features. There were indeed shortcomings in our work. This incident has made us deeply realize that any major updates involving user experience must be based on full communication. In the future, we will establish a more comprehensive user feedback collection mechanism to fully listen to user opinions. Thank you for your understanding and tolerance.

What is the purpose of the carbon fiber dual-duct front hood on the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra? If I don't like it, can I change the configuration?

In the earliest mass production plan, the SU7 Ultra mass production version already had sufficient comprehensive performance to compete in domestic professional tracks and the Nürburgring, and there was no plan to include a carbon fiber dual-duct front hood.

After the Nürburgring performance of the SU7 Ultra prototype was released on October 29th, the prototype's capabilities and exterior design received significant attention. After thorough research and evaluation of engineering feasibility, we decided to respond to user demands by replicating the prototype's perforated front hood design, offering users more styling options.

The carbon fiber dual-duct front hood, in addition to meeting the demand for replicating the exterior design, also provides some airflow export and auxiliary front hood cooling functions.

Wedeeply apologize for the previous unclear informationand will take the following measures:

For undelivered orders, we will provide a limited-time reconfiguration service to switch back to an aluminum front hood;

For users who have already taken delivery or have locked in their orders for the carbon fiber dual-duct front hood before the end of this limited-time reconfiguration period (before 23:59:59 on May 10th), we will offer 20,000 points as a gesture of goodwill.For specific information, please stay tuned for official updates on the Xiaomi Auto APP.

Additionally, the carbon fiber dual-airflow front hood has a total carbon fiber usage area of 1.73㎡, contributing to a weight reduction of 1.3kg for the entire vehicle.

Meanwhile, the SU7 Ultra carbon fiber dual-airflow front hood version has been used for all recent track lap records.

What are the specific policies for the modification service and point distribution for the SU7 Ultra carbon fiber dual-airflow front hood?

For users who have locked in an order for an SU7 Ultra that is not yet in stock and has not been delivered, and who are still in the invoicing process, if they wish to switch from the carbon fiber dual-airflow front hood back to an aluminum front hood, the modification window will be from 10:00 AM on May 9th to 11:59:59 PM on May 10th.

All users who have opted for the carbon fiber dual-airflow front hood (those who locked in their orders before 11:59:59 PM on May 10th) will receive 20,000 points upon vehicle delivery. For users who have already taken delivery, we will arrange for the points to be distributed as soon as possible. The points will be credited to the Xiaomi account used for the order.

For more details, please stay tuned for official updates on the Xiaomi Auto APP or consult your Ultra Master. We would like to remind you that this modification will not affect the current benefits of your SU7 Ultra order; however, once the modification is successful, the vehicle's production schedule and estimated delivery time will be recalculated from the successful modification date, and the original configuration and delivery sequence cannot be restored.

Are the carbon fiber dual-airflow modification kits available on e-commerce platforms different from the original factory version?

The carbon fiber dual-airflow front hood is manufactured using the industry-leading autoclave process, similar to that used for many supercar models. It not only requires 6 hours of high-standard manual layup but also 6 hours of autoclave curing. Currently, the original factory carbon fiber dual-airflow front hood can only produce one qualified product per mold per day, with appearance quality, craftsmanship, and raw material costs far exceeding those of third-party imitation modification kits.

The original factory carbon fiber dual-airflow front hood, based on Xiaomi's quality requirements, has fully verified design indicators such as NVH, durability, and structural strength, while also meeting safety requirements for pedestrian protection. It also offers a 5-year or 100,000-kilometer original factory warranty, consistent with the vehicle's warranty period.

Are the SU7 Ultras that set lap records at tracks like Shanghai International Circuit and Zhejiang International Circuit equipped with the same carbon fiber dual-airflow front hood?

Yes. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra equipped with the original factory carbon fiber dual-airflow front hood, based on its powerful overall performance, has demonstrated exceptional performance in extreme driving scenarios on the track, setting multiple domestic professional track lap records:

At Zhejiang International Circuit, with a lap time of 1'32"616, it is the fastest four-door production car at ZIC;

At Shanghai International Circuit, with a lap time of 2'09"944, it is the fastest production car at SIC;

It has also set records for the fastest four-door production car at Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit, Zhuzhou International Circuit, and Zhuhai International Circuit.

Currently, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is challenging the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Let's look forward to our good news!
