SAIC Motor boasts YoY rise in both Apr., YTD vehicle sales

SAIC Motor recently announced that its wholesale volume reached 376,517 vehicles in the month of April 2025, indicating a year-on-year growth of 4.59%.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- SAIC Motor recently announced that its wholesale volume reached 376,517 vehicles in the month of April 2025, indicating a year-on-year growth of 4.59%.

For the first four months of the year, the automobile group's cumulative sales amounted to 1,321,367 units, rising 10.65% from a year earlier.

Of the vehicles the group sold last month, 128,104 units were from the new energy vehicle (NEV) business, showing a robust year-on-year spike of 71.74%. As for the year-to-date (YTD) performance, SAIC Motor sold 401,054 NEVs by April, which surged 40.86% over a year earlier.

On the global business front, SAIC Motor reported an April sales volume of 86,666 vehicles (-5.86% YoY) for its exports and sales made by its overseas bases, resulting in a Jan.-Apr. volume of 305,692 units (-4.09% YoY).

Breaking down the April sales by specific subsidiaries, SAIC-GM-Wuling ("SGMW"), IM Automotive Technology Co., Ltd., SAIC GM Wuling Indonesia Co., Ltd., and MG India Co., Ltd., all scored a two-digit year-on-year growth. Of them, SGMW was the only one to surpass the 100,000-unit sales mark.

Both SAIC Volkswagen and SAIC-GM recorded a year-on-year decline in their Apr. sales, which came in at 82,523 units and 42,069 units, respectively. SAIC MOTOR Passenger Vehicle, which owns Roewe and MG brands, saw its Apr. sales climb up 7.28% over a year ago to 67,924 units.

For the Jan.-Apr. period, SGMW was credited the best-performing one in both YTD sales and year-on-year growth rate.
