[EU Trade Official: US Could Impose Over $100 Billion in Tariffs if Scope Expanded] The EU's top trade negotiator stated that if the White House's new investigations into goods such as pharmaceutical products and semiconductors lead to additional tariffs, the US could collect over $100 billion in tariffs from the EU. "The current situation is unacceptable, and we cannot stand idly by," said Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission. US officials are currently studying the possibility of imposing tariffs on several industries, including imports of copper, lumber, and pharmaceuticals, citing national security concerns. Šefčovič said that if all possible tariffs are implemented, approximately €549 billion ($621.28 billion) of EU exports to the US would be affected by tariffs. "It is expected that the US could now potentially gain up to €100 billion," he said.
