Cyclic Materials, a rare earth recycling startup headquartered in Canada, has announced an investment of over $20 million in the US to establish recycling facilities aimed at extracting permanent magnets from scrap components. The company's first plant, located in Mesa, Arizona, will serve the south-west US and is capable of processing approximately 155,000 mt of automotive and electronic waste annually. The facility is expected to commence commercial operations in early 2026, with Cyclic Materials aiming to recover critical raw materials from scrap EV motors, wind turbines, MRI machines, and electronic waste from data centers. The company collaborates with Solvay, Vattenfall, Synetiq, and Vacuumschmelze to recycle magnets containing rare earth elements.
