BYD boasts 46.98% YoY leap in Jan.-Apr. 2025 vehicle sales

BYD Company Limited reported sales of 380,089 new vehicles for the month of April 2025, marking a year-on-year jump of 21.34% and also showing a slight month-on-month growth of 0.71%.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited ("BYD") reported sales of 380,089 new vehicles for the month of April 2025, marking a year-on-year jump of 21.34% and also showing a slight month-on-month growth of 0.71%.

Of the new vehicles sold last month, passenger vehicle sales amounted to 372,615 units, a 19.41% increase compared to the prior-year period and a month-on-month growth of 0.32%. Breaking down the sales by powertrain solutions, battery electric vehicle sales totaled 195,740 units, reflecting a year-on-year surge of 45.57%, and also indicating a month-on-month jump of 17.84%, contributing 52.53% to BYD's overall passenger vehicle sales. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sales came in at 176,875 units, showing a year-on-year dip of 0.4% and also posting a 13.85% month-on-month drop.

Additionally, BYD announced that its overseas sales of new energy passenger vehicles and pick-up trucks reached 78,705 units in the fourth month of 2025, marking a year-on-year spike of 91.9%.

Breaking the monthly sales down by brands and product series, the Dynasty and Ocean series together sold 347,053 vehicles in April, displaying a rise of 16.5% from the year-ago period. The DENZA brand recorded sales of 15,388 vehicles (+38.4% YoY), while the FANFGCHENGBAO and YANGWANG brands logged sales of 10,093 units and 135 units, respectively.

The company also sold 7,474 commercial vehicles last month, which skyrocketed 524.39% over a year earlier and also grew 24.55% over a month ago.

For the first four months of the year, BYD sold a total of 1,380,893 vehicles, which leapt 46.98% from the year-ago period.
