Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 3, Chinese smart driving technology company Momenta and Uber jointly announced a strategic partnership to bring self-driving vehicles to the Uber platform across international markets outside the U.S. and China.

The initial phase of commercialization is set to be launched in early 2026 in Europe, with vehicles equipped with onboard safety drivers. By integrating Momenta's autonomous driving technology with Uber's global mobility network, the two companies aim to accelerate the delivery of safe and reliable Robotaxi services to users worldwide.

Momenta CEO Cao Xudong remarked, "We've already forged solid partnerships with leading global chipmakers and automakers. Now, teaming up with the world's largest mobility service platform, Uber, fills a key gap in our global scalability roadmap. This collaboration marks a major milestone for us as we efficiently integrate our Robotaxi technology into mass-produced vehicle platforms and expand into international markets."

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi added, "We're thrilled to form this strategic partnership with Momenta. By combining Uber's global ride-hailing network with Momenta's AI-driven autonomous driving technology, we aim to deliver more reliable and affordable self-driving transportation experiences for users around the world."

During the AUTO SHANGHAI 2025 on April 25, SAIC Volkswagen announced a strategic partnership with Momenta to integrate their jointly developed advanced driver-assistance solution into future vehicles. The system is powered by Momenta's proprietary end-to-end Flywheel large model, aligning with the latest developments in large-scale AI models to deliver safer, more comfortable assisted driving for mass-market consumers.

In addition to the collaboration with SAIC VW, Momenta announced extended strategic partnerships with seven other major brands during the AUTO SHANGHAI, including General Motors' Buick, FAW Toyota, Honda China, Cadillac, SAIC Audi, and IM Motors. Since serving its first production model in 2022, Momenta has rapidly expanded its footprint, delivering solutions for eight models in 2023 and scaling up to 26 models by 2024. To date, Momenta has supported the mass production of more than 130 vehicle models across its partnerships.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
