On April 27, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) obtained two testing reports for GB 38031-2025 "Safety Requirements for Traction Batteries of Electric Vehicles" (hereinafter referred to as the "new national standard"), becoming the first domestic enterprise to pass the new national standard. The products that passed the testing included battery cells and battery packs.
The new mandatory national standard for power battery safety, GB 38031-2025, was released on March 28, 2025, and will be officially implemented on July 1, 2026.
The products submitted for testing this time were Qilin batteries, and the testing reports were issued by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) New Energy Testing Center, an authoritative third-party certification body. Members of the Energy System Department of CATARC's New Energy Testing Center and the Testing and Verification Center team of CATL jointly attended and witnessed the award ceremony.
The issuance of the first testing report not only verified the effectiveness and operability of the GB 38031-2025 standard but also recognized CATL's technological leadership in the power battery field.
As of February this year, over 18 million vehicles worldwide have been equipped with CATL batteries. For CATL, power battery safety is the lifeline that runs through the entire corporate development.
