SMM April 29 News: With the Labour Day holiday approaching, SMM communicated with galvanized sheet enterprises regarding their holiday arrangements. This survey covered 20 galvanized sheet enterprises with a total capacity of 19.22 million mt/year, impacting zinc consumption by 274 mt. According to the findings, only one sample enterprise chose to halt production during the Labour Day holiday, while the vast majority of galvanized sheet plants in the industry are expected to operate normally during the holiday. In terms of orders, April is the peak season for galvanized sheet orders. Recently, domestic trade orders have remained at a seasonal high, and in April, domestic galvanized sheet plants were still fulfilling some "rush export" orders received earlier. Overall, the operating rate has been maintained. However, with the implementation of tariffs between China and the US and stricter domestic inspections on export declarations, some enterprises reported a certain pullback in export orders after May, leading to significant market concerns about future orders. Regarding raw material stocking, during the five-day market closure over the Labour Day holiday, galvanized sheet plants have largely completed their raw material purchases. Some enterprises will also receive raw materials during the holiday. Overall, raw material stocking for the holiday period has been completed.
