TOYO Solar, a Japanese solar solutions provider, has established a 2GW solar cell manufacturing plant in Ethiopia, Africa, which commenced production in early April 2025. TOYO Solar announced this project in October 2024, with a total investment of $60 million. The plant was scheduled to commence production after completing equipment installation in November 2024, and it plans to expand its capacity to 4GW after the initial delivery to meet market demand. The expansion project is expected to be completed in July 2025, with official production starting in August, and an estimated investment of $47 million.
