【Alumina Capacity Dynamics】From March to April 2025, Chinese alumina enterprises began to face losses one after another, and many alumina enterprises chose to carry out maintenance work at an appropriate time. From late March to April, according to SMM, approximately 11.5 million mt of capacity underwent maintenance in succession. Meanwhile, some alumina enterprises reported that they had planned maintenance work for May. As most enterprises conducted maintenance on roasting furnaces, the reduction in alumina production during the maintenance period could be partially compensated after the maintenance was completed. Therefore, further understanding and calculation are needed to assess the impact of the maintenance on the monthly alumina production.
