Market Trends in Recycling Sector (April 21–27, 2025)

  1. LMFP Cathode Material Facility Operational in Gansu
A 100,000-ton annual lithium manganese iron phosphate (LMFP) cathode material project entered production on April 18, 2025, at a high-tech industrial park in Gansu Province. The first phase, with 20,000-ton capacity and a total investment of RMB 485 million, is now fully operational, projected to generate annual revenue of RMB 1 billion. The full three-phase plan aims to reach 100,000 tons of total capacity.

  2. 5k-ton Battery Scrap Recycling Project Gains Environmental Approval
A 50,000-ton battery scrap recycling and regeneration project in Shandong Province received environmental clearance on April 17. Located in an industrial park in Yanzhou District, the RMB 100 million project focuses on processing anode fragments, foil scraps, and other battery residuals to achieve efficient resource recovery.

  3. Large-Scale Energy Storage Battery Plant Nears Completion
A RMB 13 billion energy storage battery production project (Phase I) has completed construction of its 93,000-square-meter cell facility, reportedly the largest single-plant capacity under its parent group. Phase I, covering 275 acres, will produce 12GWh of 314Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells for applications in grid-scale, commercial, and residential energy storage systems.

  4. Sodium Battery Base Breaks Ground in Sichuan
A sodium-ion battery headquarters project commenced construction on April 18 in Meishan, Sichuan, with a total investment of RMB 2 billion. The facility plans annual output of 30,000 tons of sodium iron sulfate cathode materials, 2.5GWh of cells, and 5GWh of battery packs, targeting over RMB 4 billion in annual revenue upon completion.

  5. 30k-ton Lithium Battery Recycling Project Announced in Inner Mongolia
A new energy recycling project in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia, has entered its first environmental review phase. The facility aims to annually process 10,000 tons of retired lithium-ion batteries for梯次利用 (cascade utilization), 20,000 tons for dismantling, and 20,000 decommissioned wind/solar units, alongside energy storage system deployment.

  6. 7k-ton Lithium Battery Recycling Upgrade Launched in Hunan
A technical upgrade project for 7,000-ton battery-grade lithium carbonate production has secured environmental approval in Hunan, marking progress in the province’s battery recycling capabilities.

  7. 33k-ton Nickel-Cobalt Recycling Project Advances in Zhejiang
A 33,000-ton/year nickel-cobalt resource recovery project in Lanxi, Zhejiang, has initiated environmental公示. The facility will process mixed materials including MHP, spent ternary batteries, and black powder, targeting 20,000 t/a of nickel products and 16,000 t/a of MHP (dry basis).
