Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 23, the opening day of the AUTO SHANGHAI 2025, BYD's Ocean Series made a major splash with the global debut of five new models: the Ocean-S concept model, the Sealion 06 DM-i, the Sealion 06 EV, the Seal 06 EV, and the Seal 06 DM-i Touring edition.

Ocean-S concept

As the flagship sedan of the Ocean Series, the Ocean-S concept car embodies BYD's next-generation Ocean Aesthetics design language. Built around the themes of vitality, diversity, and nature, the vehicle seamlessly integrates marine aesthetics with advanced technology. Its design is defined by three conceptual threads—"Realm of the Sea," "Waves of the Sea," and "Soul of the Sea"—culminating in a futuristic and emotionally resonant style that sets the tone for the brand's future direction.

With a long and elegant silhouette, the Ocean-S features a minimalist yet fluid surface design that conveys dynamic motion. The bold, avant-garde front face incorporates innovative lighting elements and aerodynamically efficient structures, achieving a harmonious balance between aesthetics and functionality. Inside, the wraparound cabin offers a layered visual depth, while details like biomimetic seats and ambient lighting evoke a serene, ocean-inspired environment.

Sealion 06 EV & DM-i

With both BEV and PHEV versions displayed at the motor show, the Sealion 06 mid-sized SUV is powered by BYD's fifth-generation DM system for the DM-i edition and the upgraded e-Platform 3.0 Evo for the EV edition, respectively. Their rounded, fluid exterior profiles are complemented by a soft, expansive front fascia and distinctive dual-beam headlights available in cool white and warm gold tones. The rising waistline and sculpted side panels enhance the SUV's athletic presence, while the rear features a full-width teardrop-style taillight that underscores its high-tech appeal. Priced between 160,000 yuan and 200,000 yuan, both models are set to hit the market in the third quarter this year.

Seal 06 EV

The Seal 06 EV, a mid-size all-electric sedan under the Seal nameplate, is also built on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo. Designed with youthful aesthetics in mind, the car offers a sleek and modern look that appeals to young consumers. It is equipped with advanced features including the "DiPilot 100" driver assistance system and BYD's DiSus-C intelligent body control system, promising an elevated experience through its core strengths in electrification and smart technology. The Seal 06 EV will be priced between 120,000 yuan and 150,000 yuan and will hit the market in the second quarter of 2025.

Seal 06 DM-i Touring edition

The Seal 06 DM-i Touring edition introduces a wagon-specific body style that blends the agile handling of a sedan with the spaciousness of an SUV. Powered by BYD's latest fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, the model is designed to meet a wide range of use scenarios—from daily commutes to long road trips and outdoor adventures. With a price range of 120,000 yuan to 150,000 yuan, the vehicle is scheduled for market release in the second quarter.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
