India Temporarily Exempts Chinese AC Compressors from Mandatory Certification Due to Shortage

On the 22nd, India notified manufacturers through a gazette order that the government allows the import of air conditioner compressors with a maximum cooling capacity of 2 mt from China without the mandatory certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards for Chinese factories, with the exemption period being one year. This move comes at a time when there is a severe shortage of this critical air conditioner part in the domestic market. As summer approaches, the demand for air conditioners will reach its peak, while local compressor capacity is insufficient. Vikash Gupta, the Managing Director in charge of operations at PG Electroplast, stated, "This order will bring a sigh of relief to the entire industry.
