Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 24, global automotive electronics leader Visteon and ByteDance's cloud service platform Volcano Engine held a joint press conference at the AUTO SHANGHAI 2025 to launch their next-generation smart cockpit solution powered by large-scale AI models.

This new solution integrates Visteon's high-performance domain controller platform with Volcano Engine's "Doubao" large language model, redefining human-vehicle interaction and helping automakers deliver more intelligent and personalized in-car experiences.

As vehicles become increasingly intelligent and connected, consumer expectations for smart cockpits are shifting from basic functionality to scenario-driven and emotionally resonant interactions. The new collaboration centers on two key technologies: edge-cloud collaborative computing and multimodal interaction. Together, these enable the AI cockpit to deliver high responsiveness, low latency, full-scenario adaptability, and empathetic intelligent services.

The newly released AI smart cockpit solution offers several core advantages:

1. Efficient on-device model deployment for intelligent performance—even offline

Visteon's domain controller, with its powerful computing and bandwidth capabilities, supports the deployment of multimodal AI models directly on the vehicle, ensuring uninterrupted functionality in low or no network environments. This offline capability delivers a closed-loop user experience, enhancing stability and speed while reducing cloud dependence and operational costs.

2. Seamless edge-cloud synergy and service integration

The solution's advanced architecture enables on-vehicle execution of AI models for real-time responsiveness, while cloud-based models continue to enrich functions and expand usage scenarios. By tapping into Volcano Engine's diverse ecosystem—spanning social media, short videos, generative content, music, and news—the cockpit can intelligently recommend content based on user behavior, supporting hyper-personalized design and creating a joyful, adaptive mobility experience.

3. Multimodal interaction for more natural communication

Integrating inputs from language, behavior, environmental context, status, and memory, the system enables more intuitive and human-like communication between driver and vehicle. Large vision models interpret both in-cabin and external user states, adjusting cockpit settings and delivering proactive, personalized services.

4. Advanced architecture streamlines automaker integration

The solution features a comprehensive AI framework with atomic service orchestration, allowing OEMs to quickly integrate large models and associated ecosystems into their vehicles, accelerating time-to-market. It also supports development of brand-specific AI experiences by leveraging proprietary knowledge graphs and optimizing on-device models. Through collaboration on cockpit scenarios powered by the Doubao LLM model and big data, automakers can achieve differentiated designs, strengthen brand identity, and enhance user loyalty.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
