






According to "Highstar Battery," on March 27, Guangdong Highstar New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as Highstar) and Beijing WELION New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as WELION New Energy) jointly developed and produced a semi-solid-state battery production line, which officially went into operation. As the first dedicated production line for semi-solid-state ESS batteries in Guangdong Province, it achieved the world's first mass production of 314Ah large-capacity semi-solid-state batteries, filling the gap in the large-scale production of high-capacity semi-solid-state batteries in China.
It is reported that as a seasoned participant in the domestic secondary battery industry transformation, Highstar possesses a mature industry chain. Since initiating its solid-state battery strategic transformation in early 2024, it has pioneered a three-tier R&D system of "hybrid solid-liquid, quasi-solid-state, and all-solid-state." Through strategic cooperation with WELION New Energy, the application of independently developed new-type nano solid-state electrolyte technology has significantly enhanced the safety of semi-solid-state batteries compared to traditional liquid lithium batteries.
Highstar's prismatic 314Ah semi-solid-state battery is the world's first 1kWh-level single-cell battery that does not emit smoke under a 5mm needle puncture. During this production process, not only were the core technical challenges of large-scale manufacturing of semi-solid-state batteries overcome, but the feasibility and stability of the product in actual production environments were also verified, laying a solid foundation for subsequent mass production. Compared to traditional liquid batteries, Highstar's semi-solid-state battery, through a hybrid design of solid-state electrolyte and liquid electrolyte, significantly reduces the risk of thermal runaway. Even under high energy density conditions, it can pass extreme tests such as puncture and compression, ensuring a "non-flammable and non-explosive" safety performance.
Currently, Guangdong Highstar has completed the construction of two automated production lines with an annual capacity of 6GWh. With the launch of the 314Ah large-capacity semi-solid-state battery, leveraging its advantages of high safety, long cycle life, and low cost, Highstar's semi-solid-state battery can meet diverse scenario needs and is widely applicable in fields such as renewable energy storage and low-altitude economy. It performs excellently in energy storage systems, suitable for grid-level energy storage, commercial and industrial energy storage, household energy storage, data centers, computing centers, and communication base station backup power supplies, effectively improving energy utilization rates. Additionally, it will have promising application scenarios in areas such as electric buses, heavy trucks, electric ships, and construction machinery in the future.
