Amid an ongoing heatwave that has pushed electricity demand to record levels, Tunisia’s state utility STEG has authorized low-voltage customers, including households and businesses, to install PV systems equipped with battery storage and hybrid inverters. The move will allow PV system owners to use stored electricity during temporary grid interruptions caused by load-shedding. STEG has also published a technical guide setting out minimum requirements for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of PV systems with batteries and hybrid inverters to ensure system and grid safety.
