Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 23, the 21st Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (AUTO SHANGHAI 2025) opened with a splash as BYD's luxury brand YANGWANG debuted its latest model—the U8L.

Positioned as a new variant of the U8 lineup, the U8L integrates YANGWANG's two signature technologies: e⁴ Platform and DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system.

Boasting a wheelbase extended to 3,250 mm and an overall length of 5,400 mm, the U8L offers a commanding presence with generous dimensions and a spacious cabin. Designed with a 2+2+2 six-seat configuration, the vehicle ensures a luxurious experience for every row, while facilitating easy access to the second and third rows. The layout caters to high-end users who require a blend of executive-level comfort and versatile passenger capacity.

Design-wise, the U8L retains the U8's signature front fascia inspired by the traditional Chinese "Ding" (Chinese: 鼎; pinyin: dǐng) vessel, now enhanced with a new Obsidian Black and Solar Gold dual-tone exterior. The SUV also features a streamlined look with blacked-out details on the front bumper, D-pillar energy towers, and other body elements. The rear loses the spare tire and adopts a power-operated split tailgate. Paired with minimalist wheel arches and newly designed 23-inch eight-hole forged wheels, the vehicle shifts toward a more refined urban luxury aesthetic.

Adding a further touch of exclusivity, YANGWANG has introduced a limited Oracle Gold emblem for the U8L, crafted from genuine 24K gold. These emblems can be optioned for the front grille, rear, and steering wheel. The gold logo—derived from the oracle bone script character for "electricity"—shines even more brilliantly against the black-and-gold exterior theme, underscoring the model's premium identity.

The U8L continues to uphold the exceptional safety capabilities of the U8 series, including emergency floating, tire blowout stability, and in-place turning. The SUV comes standard with the advanced "God's Eye A" tri-LiDAR driver assistance system, supporting features such as high-speed and urban navigation assist, automated parking, e⁴-based intelligent parking, and remote self-parking. With the e⁴ Platform and DiSus-P system onboard, the U8L promises class-leading safety, performance, and driving experience.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
