According to foreign media reports on April 21, a fire broke out at the Crompton Road recycling center in Ilkeston, UK, at 8:23 PM on April 15. The most likely cause of the fire at the recycling center was the improper handling of discarded lithium-ion batteries left in the recycling waste, sounding an alarm for the safe recycling of batteries.

It is understood that after a large amount of waste caught fire at the recycling center, firefighters worked for nearly 12 hours to control the blaze, during which eight fire trucks, an aerial ladder platform, and a high-capacity pump were deployed. After the fire was extinguished, staff returned to inspect the premises at noon on April 16. After a thorough examination, it was determined that the cause of the fire was the improper handling of lithium-ion batteries in the recycling waste.
