Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 21, 2025, global braking systems leader Brembo officially opened its first Inspiration Lab in Asia, located in Shanghai. The new facility will focus on enhancing the company's capabilities in software development, artificial intelligence, and data science, marking another significant milestone in Brembo's transformation from a component manufacturer to a comprehensive solutions provider.

"Brembo's Shanghai Inspiration Lab is the center of excellence for our global digital strategy in China," said Daniele Schillaci, CEO of Brembo. "As the automotive industry continues to evolve, we are integrating our advanced braking technologies with digital and AI-driven solutions to redefine the standards of safety and comfort in driving. This lab will accelerate our vision of achieving 'zero accidents,' delivering a truly worry-free mobility experience for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike."

The Shanghai lab is a key addition to Brembo's global innovation network, complementing its existing Inspiration Lab in Silicon Valley and ten R&D centers worldwide. As Brembo's innovation hub in China, the Shanghai facility will collaborate closely with top universities, tech startups, and strategic industry partners to co-develop breakthrough technologies aimed at enhancing the global competitiveness of its customers.

Since establishing its first production base in Nanjing in 2001, Brembo has built a comprehensive network in China comprising five production facilities, one trading company, and a research center across cities including Nanjing, Shanghai, Langfang, Jiaxing, Qingdao, and Jinan. China now accounts for over 15% of Brembo's annual revenue. In 2024, the company's sales in China grew by 7.7% compared to 2023.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
