Turkey Plans to Extract Lithium from Geothermal Wells, Aims to Become a Lithium Producer
Turkey has announced its intention to utilize its abundant geothermal resources to extract lithium from geothermal well brine, aiming to position itself as a significant global lithium producer. The country's Ministry of Energy stated that related pilot projects have already achieved success, and future plans include scaling up commercial production. This initiative not only enhances Turkey's position in the emerging battery industry chain but also supports its energy transition strategy. Turkey possesses one of the largest geothermal resource reserves in Europe, and the development of geothermal lithium extraction technology is expected to reduce its reliance on imported lithium.
