On Monday, April 21, the International Copper Study Group (ICSG) stated in its latest monthly report that the global copper cathode market experienced a supply surplus of 61,000 mt in February 2025, compared to a surplus of 90,000 mt in January. In the first two months of this year, the global copper cathode market saw a supply surplus of 150,000 mt, while the surplus during the same period last year was 157,000 mt. Data showed that global copper cathode production reached 2.2 million mt in February 2025, with consumption at 2.14 million mt. According to ICSG, after adjusting for inventory in bonded warehouses of major consuming countries, the supply surplus in February 2025 was 76,000 mt, compared to 91,000 mt in January.
