Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 21, YANGWANG, the luxury new energy vehicle brand under BYD, announced that its cumulative vehicle sales have surpassed 10,000 units. The brand currently offers a lineup that includes the YANGWANG U7, U8, and U9 models.

The U7, YANGWANG's third model, hit the market in March with two variants priced between 628,000 yuan and 708,000 yuan. Available in four- and five-seat configurations, the U7 is offered in both BEV (battery electric vehicle) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) versions.

A key highlight of the model is the groundbreaking DiSus Z intelligent suspension system, which integrates electromagnetic propulsion technology derived from aircraft carriers and maglev trains. This system eliminates the need for hydraulic components by using direct-drive suspension motors, delivering peak power of up to 50 kW. It sets new industry benchmarks for both responsiveness and precision.

The BEV version of the U7 is powered by a 135.5 kWh Blade Battery, offering a CLTC-rated range of 720 km. The PHEV version features a 52.4 kWh battery and achieves a combined range of up to 1,000 km. Notably, it is equipped with China's first horizontally opposed engine developed for mass production in a new energy vehicle. This compact engine, just 420 mm in height, offers smooth and quiet performance while maximizing front compartment space. The system maintains a noise difference of less than 1 decibel between electric and hybrid driving modes.

Looking ahead, YANGWANG is set to unveil a longer-wheelbase version of the U8, named U8L, at the upcoming AUTO SHANGHAI 2025. Teaser images reveal a striking two-tone body in black and gold, featuring a more extended profile, full-size proportions, and a bold presence. The new vehicle will also introduce enclosed wheels with a floating logo at the center. The extended version is expected to feature a longer body and wheelbase, likely adopting a three-row seating layout.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
