On April 16, in the eastern Tianshan area of Jing'erquan, Hami City, workers were conducting line inspections for the Hami-Chongqing ±800 kV ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission project (Xinjiang section), marking the final sprint phase before commissioning.

As one of the 102 major projects outlined in China's 14th Five-Year Plan, the Hami-Chongqing ±800 kV UHVDC transmission project represents the third DC power transmission channel for "Xinjiang Power Outbound." Spanning 2,290 kilometers across five provinces/municipalities (Xinjiang, Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Chongqing), the project starts in Hami City, Xinjiang, and terminates in Yubei District, Chongqing, with a total dynamic investment of 28.6 billion yuan.

The Xinjiang section begins at the Barkol Converter Station and ends at the Xinjiang-Gansu provincial border, passing through Barkol County, Yiwu County, Yizhou District of Hami City, and Hongshan Farm in the 13th Division's Xinxing City. This section covers 348.594 kilometers of transmission lines and includes 679 newly erected steel towers.
