Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Boundary.AI and Volant have officially signed a principal contract for the VE25-100 program, deepening their longstanding collaboration, according to a press release Volant issued on April 15.

Under the agreement, Boundary.AI will supply the flight control electronics system for Volant's VE25-100 eVTOL aircraft and provide associated compliance verification and airworthiness certification support. This partnership is expected to accelerate the certification process and pave the way for the commercial rollout of urban air mobility services in China.

As a leading player in China's eVTOL sector, Volant's VE25-100 model features a compound wing design, a maximum takeoff weight of 2.5 tonnes, and seating for one pilot and five passengers. With a cruising speed of 235 km/h and a range between 200 to 400 kilometers, it is suitable for a range of use cases including intra- and inter-city commuting, low-altitude tourism, emergency rescue, and cargo transport.

Volant has made significant progress in the development of VE25-100. In July 2024, the aircraft became the first in the industry to complete full-scale transition flight. The initial type certification review meeting was held in October last year, and in April this year, the aircraft's G-1 Certification Basis was finalized—marking a major milestone in China's regulatory process for high-capacity manned eVTOL aircraft.

Given the critical role of flight control electronics in ensuring aviation safety, the VE25-100 will be equipped with Boundary.AI's newest-generation REG300 high-integrity flight control computer. Designed in accordance with ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-254, and DO-160G standards, the REG300 features dual, dissimilar architecture for command and monitoring channels, supporting functions such as input voting, output supervision, and self-diagnostics. The system is capable of meeting the stringent DAL-B safety level. With this advanced technology, Boundary.AI will provide robust support for the VE25-100's development, certification, and future commercial operations.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
