Sichuan: 20,000 mt Lithium Battery Recycling Project Announced. Recently, the Nanchong Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau intends to make a decision on the environmental impact report of the Nanchong Lithium Battery Green Economy Recycling Comprehensive Demonstration Project and has publicized the basic information. The project is located in the Nanchong Economic Development Zone, Sichuan, covering an area of 66,680.07 m2. The project mainly extracts valuable metals such as nickel, cobalt, manganese, and lithium from retired lithium-ion batteries to produce high-value-added products such as nickel sulphate, cobalt sulphate, manganese sulphate, lithium carbonate, and ternary cathode precursors. The main construction contents include raw material warehouses, product warehouses, pre-treatment workshops, leaching workshops, extraction workshops, ternary cathode precursor workshops, evaporation crystallization workshops, wastewater treatment workshops, power distribution stations, office R&D buildings, R&D buildings (with supporting quality inspection rooms), and maintenance workshops. After the project is completed, it will achieve the resource utilization of 20,000 mt/year of retired lithium-ion batteries.
