SMM April 17 News: This week, the price of low-sulphur petroleum coke showed a stable and fluctuating trend. Demand side, tariffs have curbed the growth rate of downstream demand. Supply side, affected by tariffs and domestic refinery maintenance, the tight supply in the petroleum coke market is difficult to alleviate in the short term. Cost side, raw material prices remained stable. Under the combined effect of these factors, the price of low-sulphur petroleum coke remained stable and fluctuated this week. Looking ahead, the impact of tariffs will continue, and it will be difficult for downstream customers' demand scale and petroleum coke supply to achieve significant increases. Additionally, some refineries will remain under maintenance for a period of time. Therefore, the price of low-sulphur petroleum coke is expected to continue to maintain a slight fluctuating trend.

This week, the average market price of oil-based green needle coke was 6,250 yuan/mt, down 1.8% MoM. From the perspective of supply and demand, affected by tariffs, downstream purchase willingness remained sluggish, and market sentiment was cautious. Meanwhile, the supply of needle coke remained at a high level, presenting an oversupply situation. Cost side, compared to last week, raw material and other related costs did not show significant fluctuations and remained stable. Considering both supply and demand and cost factors, the price of needle coke showed a slight downward trend this week. Looking ahead, considering the continuous release of new capacity in the needle coke sector, the market supply is expected to remain abundant in the future. Therefore, the price of oil-based green needle coke is expected to show a downward trend in the coming period.
