Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 16, Dongfeng Motor's premium NEV brand VOYAH officially launched its new architecture for Level 3 (L3) advanced driver assistance functions, Tian Yuan, during a dedicated technology event.

This new platform introduces two key technology clusters: the Qingyun L3 Intelligent Safety Driving Platform and the Kunpeng L3 Intelligent Safety Driving System.

The Qingyun platform, in-house developed by VOYAH, centers on the concept of safe intelligent driving. Built on a digital driving control platform, it integrates cutting-edge technologies such as axial flux motors, distributed electric drives, steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, rear-wheel steering, and fully active suspension. Together, these elements mark a significant shift from traditional electronic control systems to a next-generation intelligent vehicle architecture, enhancing both driving intelligence and safety.

VOYAH revealed that it has overcome 13 major technical hurdles in the development of China's first axial flux motor for passenger vehicles, setting a global benchmark with a peak single-motor torque of 680 N·m. This motor stands out for its lightweight structure, compact size, and high efficiency. In performance tests, a VOYAH MPV prototype equipped with the new motor and distributed drive system successfully tackled a 60% gradient, handled hill starts with ease, and executed standing U-turns, showcasing significant improvements in off-road capability and maneuverability under complex conditions.

The Kunpeng L3 Intelligent Safety Driving System is built on three foundational modules: the Kunpeng Panoramic Perception Network, the Kunpeng Nine-Core  Computing Large Model, and the Kunpeng Wanxiang (translating to "All-Spectrum") Platform. These modules work in unison to simulate realistic driving scenarios in the cloud, integrate real-time multi-source data, and continuously refine onboard large model algorithms based on user behaviorresulting in a highly adaptive, intelligent, and user-aware driving experience.

The Kunpeng system significantly enhances recognition accuracy and safety margins, boasting over 700-line LiDAR sensors and dual chips with more than 1,000 TOPS of computing power. It can identify 15 cm-sized objects at a distance of 100 meters and achieve AEB braking from speeds up to 160 km/h. These capabilities, combined with decision-making advancements enabled by the new platform, push the boundaries of intelligent driving safety.

In addition, VOYAH introduced a digital-intelligence integrated chassis system that merges perception, decision-making, and execution into one cohesive unit. This system enables seamless coordination between active suspension and advanced safety functions, allowing real-time monitoring of potential collision threats around the vehicleincluding front, rear, sides, and underbodyand initiating preemptive protective measures when needed.

VOYAH also announced that its first full-size, six-seat flagship SUVcodenamed "Taishan"will debut in 2025. Positioned as a "tech flagship for the new era," the vehicle will be the first production model based on the Tian Yuan architecture, equipped with both the aforesaid Qingyun platform and Kunpeng system.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
