SMM Daily Review: Spot Lithium Carbonate Prices Remained Stable on April 17
The SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index price was 71,619 yuan/mt, down 19 yuan/mt WoW from the previous working day. The battery-grade lithium carbonate price range was 70,200-72,900 yuan/mt, with an average price of 71,550 yuan/mt, unchanged from the previous working day. The industrial-grade lithium carbonate price range was 69,150-70,150 yuan/mt, with an average price of 69,650 yuan/mt, unchanged from the previous working day. The price center of spot lithium carbonate transaction prices remained stable today. The proportion of long-term contracts and customer supply in downstream material plants increased compared to before, leading to a further weakening in spot order procurement demand. With no clear signs of recovery in end-use demand, downstream companies generally maintained just-in-time procurement. Although upstream lithium chemical companies have shown signs of loosening their quotations, the price adjustment range still failed to meet the psychological expectations of downstream companies, resulting in significant price differences between buyers and sellers. As a result, spot market transactions remained sluggish and cold.
