In March, the production growth of raw coal, crude oil, natural gas, and electricity in large-scale industries (hereinafter referred to as large-scale industries) accelerated.
I. Production of Raw Coal, Crude Oil, and Natural Gas and Related Information
The production growth of raw coal accelerated. In March, the production of raw coal in large-scale industries reached 440 million mt, up 9.6% YoY, with the growth rate accelerating by 1.9 percentage points compared to January-February. The daily average production was 14.21 million mt.
From January to March, the production of raw coal in large-scale industries reached 1.2 billion mt, up 8.1% YoY.
Crude oil production shifted from decline to growth. In March, the production of crude oil in large-scale industries reached 19.03 million mt, up 3.5% YoY, compared to a decline of 0.2% in January-February. The daily average production was 614,000 mt.
From January to March, the production of crude oil in large-scale industries reached 54.09 million mt, up 1.1% YoY.
Crude oil processing increased YoY. In March, large-scale industries processed 63.06 million mt of crude oil, up 0.4% YoY. The daily average processing was 2.034 million mt. From January to March, large-scale industries processed 182.25 million mt of crude oil, up 1.6% YoY.
Natural gas production grew steadily. In March, the production of natural gas in large-scale industries reached 22.7 billion m³, up 5.0% YoY, with the growth rate accelerating by 1.3 percentage points compared to January-February. The daily average production was 730 million m³.
From January to March, the production of natural gas in large-scale industries reached 66 billion m³, up 4.3% YoY.
II. Power Production
The growth rate of power production in large-scale industries accelerated. In March, the power generation in large-scale industries reached 778 billion kWh, up 1.8% YoY, with the growth rate accelerating by 3.1 percentage points compared to January-February. The daily average generation was 25.1 billion kWh. From January to March, the power generation in large-scale industries reached 2,269.9 billion kWh, down 0.3% YoY. Excluding the impact of the number of days, the daily average generation increased by 0.8% YoY.
By category, in March, the decline in thermal power generation in large-scale industries narrowed, while the growth rates of hydropower and nuclear power accelerated, and the growth rates of wind power and solar power slowed down. Specifically, thermal power generation in large-scale industries decreased by 2.3% YoY, with the decline narrowing by 3.5 percentage points compared to January-February. Hydropower generation in large-scale industries increased by 9.5% YoY, with the growth rate accelerating by 5.0 percentage points. Nuclear power generation in large-scale industries increased by 23.0% YoY, with the growth rate accelerating by 15.3 percentage points. Wind power generation in large-scale industries increased by 8.2% YoY, with the growth rate slowing down by 2.2 percentage points. Solar power generation in large-scale industries increased by 8.9% YoY, with the growth rate slowing down by 18.5 percentage points.
