On the evening of April 11, Sinoma Science & Technology (002080) announced that its subsidiary, Sinoma Lithium Membrane Co., Ltd., plans to establish Sinoma Science & Technology (Hungary) Co., Ltd. (proposed) in Hungary, investing 114 million euros to build a wet-coated separator production site with a total annual capacity of 640 million m².

The announcement revealed that Sinoma Science & Technology intends to lease factory buildings to construct eight coated separator production lines, with a construction investment of 86.05 million euros, working capital of 25.64 million euros, and construction period interest of 2.49 million euros. The project has a construction period of 18 months.

Sinoma Science & Technology stated that this project aligns with the demand for lithium battery separators in the European market. By building overseas capacity, it will better meet the needs of international customers, advance the company's international development layout in the lithium battery separator industry, and enhance the market position and competitiveness of its lithium battery separator products.

Battery Network noted that recently, during interactions with investors, Sinoma Science & Technology mentioned that by the end of 2024, the company's lithium battery separator industry had established production sites in Tengzhou, Shandong; Changde, Hunan; Ningxiang, Hunan; Hohhot, Inner Mongolia; Pingxiang, Jiangxi; Nanjing, Jiangsu; and Yibin, Sichuan, while actively promoting the layout of overseas factories, covering the mainstream lithium battery customer markets both domestically and overseas. The company possesses internationally advanced wet separator manufacturing equipment and leading R&D capabilities, offering 4-12μm wet separators and various coated separator products. It has established solid strategic partnerships with top-tier lithium battery enterprises both domestically and internationally. In 2024, amid fierce competition, Sinoma Lithium Membrane sold a total of 1.9 billion m² of lithium battery separators, achieving a YoY growth of 9.4%.

[Energy Storage: BYD Establishes Presence In Brazil, Expands Into Latin American Energy Storage Market]
Recently, the Spanish news agency EFE reported that BYD has announced an investment of 500 million Brazilian reais (approximately 100 million US dollars) to establish an energy storage battery production base in Brazil. This marks the largest dedicated investment in energy storage batteries in Brazil to date and signals an acceleration in BYD's energy transition strategy in Latin America. In its statement, BYD said that the investment will be implemented in a phased, incremental approach, steadily advancing the construction of energy storage battery production capacity. Addressing the specific characteristics of the Brazilian market, BYD noted that the region faces significant imbalances in electricity production, coupled with the essential energy demands of core high-consumption industries such as mining, agriculture, and livestock. These factors present extensive application scenarios for energy storage equipment, which can effectively address local power supply and demand gaps.
