Resouro Strategic Metals has updated the resource estimate for its Tiros project, which now accounts for more than half of Brazil's total titanium resources.
Through this update, the previously inferred resources have been almost entirely upgraded to measured and indicated resources.
Currently, the project has an ore resource of 1.4 billion mt, with a titanium grade of 12% and a total rare earth oxide (TREO) grade of 0.4%.
In terms of metal content, the titanium content is 165 million mt, and the TREO content is 5.5 million mt, with magnet rare earth (Pr-Nd-Dy-Tb) oxides accounting for 27%.
Of the total resources, high-grade titanium resources amount to 104 million mt, with a grade of 23% and a TREO grade of 0.9%.
The company stated that the resource volume of the Tiros project far exceeds that of its competitors, including ASX-listed Meteoric Resources and Viridis Mining & Minerals. The project's metallurgical testing is expected to be completed soon. The Tiros titanium mine is of the anatase type, while those in India, Australia, Mozambique, and Canada are primarily of the ilmenite-rutile type.
