The US 2GW PV Module Capacity Went Into Operation!

Published: Apr 10, 2025 08:37
Recently, Boviet Solar Technology Co. Ltd. in Vietnam (hereinafter referred to as "Boviet Solar") announced the official commencement of operations at its first PV module factory in Greenville, North Carolina, US. The factory, with a total investment of $294 million, will adopt N-type solar cell technology to produce high-performance Gamma Series™ single-sided PV modules and Vega Series™ bifacial PV modules. Boviet Solar will hold an opening ceremony at the factory on April 24. The factory is constructed in two phases, with the first phase currently having an annual capacity of 2GW. The second phase will involve the construction of a solar cell factory covering approximately 600,000 square feet, which is expected to commence operations in H2 2026. It is reported that Boviet Solar is a subsidiary of Vietnam Sunergy Corporation. In Q4 2024, Boviet Solar announced its global strategic expansion, revealing plans to establish two new production sites in Southeast Asia and Europe, both expected to start operations in 2026. The Southeast Asia production site will be located in either Vietnam or Thailand, while the European production site will be in Spain or Poland, with both factories planned to have an annual capacity of 5GW. By 2025, Boviet Solar's global annual capacity had reached 10GW, and this expansion plan will increase its global annual capacity to 15GW.

[SMM PV News] Armenia Hits 1.1 GW Solar Capacity,
Armenia’s cumulative solar capacity has surged to 1.1 GW following the addition of approximately 615 MW in 2025. This rapid expansion has pushed solar's share of electricity generation to around 15%, effectively meeting the country's 2030 target years ahead of schedule. The growth is heavily driven by a net-metering scheme supporting over 50,000 autonomous producers (totaling 650 MW), though the government ended loan subsidies for rooftop solar in July to shift focus toward battery storage.
