Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 7, Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker Leapmotor announced a deepened strategic partnership with the LiDAR company Hesai Technology ("Hesai"), marking a new phase in their collaboration on intelligent driving solutions.

As part of the expanded cooperation, Leapmotor is expected to purchase approximately 200,000 units of Hesai's ATX LiDAR sensors, which will be installed across multiple mass-produced models beginning in 2025. Hesai will continue to serve as Leapmotor's exclusive LiDAR supplier, providing advanced perception technology for the carmaker's driver assistance systems.

The partnership will see Hesai's ATX LiDAR widely adopted in Leapmotor's upcoming B and C series vehicles, significantly expanding the brand's intelligent driving capabilities and accelerating the mainstream adoption of smart driving technologies.

Zhu Jiangming, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Leapmotor, commented on the collaboration, stating, "We are pleased to further strengthen our strategic ties with Hesai. Their LiDAR technology has proven mature and highly reliable, serving as a cornerstone of our smart driving systems. The newly launched B10 model with LiDAR has received a strong market response, and we look forward to equipping more of our future models with this cutting-edge hardware to deliver safer, smarter, and more comfortable mobility experiences."

Li Yifan, Founder and CEO of Hesai Technology, echoed the enthusiasm, adding, "Since our partnership began in 2023, Leapmotor models such as the C10, C11, and C16 equipped with Hesai's LiDAR have performed impressively in the market, with the B10 exceeding expectations and emerging as a standout success. This expanded cooperation will enable us to provide Leapmotor with even more advanced liDAR products and help accelerate its intelligent driving capabilities, while jointly advancing safety and accessibility in automotive technology."

Leapmotor has seen strong sales momentum, delivering 293,724 vehicles through 2024surging 103.8% year-on-year. That momentum has carried into 2025, with March alone seeing deliveries reach around 37,000 units.

Hesais compact, high-resolution long-range ATX LiDAR builds on the proven AT platform with a one-dimensional scanning architecture that ensures structured point clouds and high reliability. Featuring Hesai's fourth-generation chip architecture and upgraded optical and laser transceiver modules, the ATX achieves a powerful balance of compact design and high performance. Since its launch, the ATX has been selected for dozens of production models by 11 automakers globally, with volume deliveries already underway as of the first quarter of 2025.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
