Freight Rates Decline for Coal Ships, Hinting at Potential Coal Price Drop
iconApr 3, 2025 17:36
On April 3, the freight rate for 60,000-70,000 mt vessels from Qinhuangdao to Guangzhou was 36.7 yuan/mt, down 0.2 yuan/mt from the previous day and down 3.8 yuan/mt WoW. The freight rate for 40,000-50,000 mt vessels from Qinhuangdao to Shanghai was 26.5 yuan/mt, unchanged from the previous day but down 3.8 yuan/mt WoW. The decline in freight rates has weakened the support for coal costs, and coal prices may have further room for downward adjustment.
