Tibet Summit Resources Outlines Lithium Salt Market Outlook and Sales Strategy

Published: Apr 03, 2025 16:44 (GMT+8)

On April 1, Tibet Summit Resources Co., Ltd. released its investor relations activity record, responding to investor inquiries.

Regarding the current supply-demand dynamics of lithium salts, Tibet Summit Resources stated: Looking ahead to 2025, it is necessary to closely monitor the phase-out of high-cost production capacity on the supply side. On the demand side, the trend toward intelligent electric vehicles is irreversible, the energy storage market holds great potential, and technological innovations such as solid-state batteries, AI, and embodied intelligence are expected to provide new growth drivers. In the long run, we remain optimistic about the supply-demand balance of lithium salts.

As for the company's sales strategy for lithium carbonate, Tibet Summit Resources responded: The overall sales approach is to maintain full production and full sales, with immediate sales upon production. However, the company internally forecasts prices and may slow the sales pace when prices are low. Discounts are determined based on market supply-demand conditions, with reference to futures market trends and Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) price quotations.

DRC’s EGC Says It Has Purchased Around 100 Truckloads of Copper-Cobalt Ore Since Musompo Reopened
The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s state-owned cobalt company Entreprise Générale du Cobalt (EGC) said it had purchased approximately 100 truckloads of copper-cobalt ore since the Musompo mineral trading centre in Kolwezi, Lualaba province, resumed operations on October 26, Bankable reported on November 2. EGC did not disclose the actual tonnage purchased. The centre opened in 2023 but remained largely underused because of its distance from some mining sites, administrative difficulties along transport routes and multiple charges. The reopening was overseen by the DRC’s mines minister, with mineral certification agency CEEC managing technical operations and EGC acting as the buyer. EGC said some of the ore it purchased came from operations overseen by an interagency task force, including seized or intercepted cargoes brought to the centre for compliance checks and sale through formal channels. Some cooperatives have also voluntarily delivered their production directly to the centre for sale. EGC said it applies a reference pricing framework developed with relevant government agencies that takes into account actual cargo weight, ore grades and potential by-products. The centre’s reopening forms part of the DRC’s wider effort to regulate artisanal mining and bring mineral sales into formal channels.

DRC Opens Judicial Investigations into Alleged Mining Fraud in Copper-Cobalt Regions
The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Justice Minister Guillaume Ngefa has ordered judicial investigations into suspected mining fraud, illegal mining and mineral smuggling at several sites in Lualaba and Haut-Katanga provinces, local media outlet Le Point reported on November 2. A joint task force comprising Congolese police, military personnel, military magistrates and mining ministry experts previously conducted operations at several mining sites, including Menda. The operations resulted in the seizure of more than 500 trucks and other pieces of equipment, as well as several thousand tonnes of copper and cobalt. The statement did not disclose the separate volumes of copper and cobalt, the forms of the materials or the companies involved. The investigations aim to establish the facts, identify potential criminal responsibility and determine appropriate legal action. The justice minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to combating mining fraud and the illegal exploitation of natural resources to protect national sovereignty and economic interests. Separately, the Chinese Embassy in the DRC said in a safety notice dated October 31 that large-scale demonstrations around mining areas in the country’s southeastern provinces had affected transport and business operations. It also said that some Chinese mining companies had been subject to regulatory enforcement amid a mining-sector crackdown, and that the embassy had sent a working group to coordinate on site.

[SMM ESS Flash] India's GERC Adopts Tariffs for 450 MW/900 MWh Gujarat Battery Storage
The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission has adopted the tariffs discovered in GUVNL's Phase-IX standalone battery storage tender, awarding NLC India Renewables 275 MW/550 MWh at a monthly capacity rate of INR 231,989 per MW and Sun Drops Energia 175 MW/350 MWh at INR 231,990 per MW. The round followed the failure of a Phase-VII winner to sign a battery energy storage purchase agreement for the 900 MWh, prompting GUVNL to issue a fresh request for selection on 22 June 2026 after clearance from the Ministry of Power, with support from viability gap funding under the Power System Development Fund and an e-reverse auction on 11 August 2026 in which nine of 11 bidders took part. The commission directed GUVNL to execute the agreements within the stipulated timeframe, incorporate provisions under the late payment surcharge rules, submit copies of the executed agreements and publish the final tariff structures on its website. The projects will help Gujarat meet its energy storage and renewable purchase obligations and improve balancing, with the order clearing the way for implementation.
