Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 1, Volkswagen Group announced that it will debut three new concept car models at the forthcoming Auto Shanghai 2025. These models, developed for its three joint ventures, namely, FAW-Volkswagen, SAIC Volkswagen, and Volkswagen Anhui, will each feature a distinctive design language, embodying the brand's new China-focused design and technology DNA.

Volkswagen first introduced this design philosophy in 2024 with the ID. CODE concept car, which showcased the brand's three core design principles. With a sleek, sporty exterior and a futuristic aesthetic, the concept offered a spacious and flexible interior. It also incorporated advanced technologies such as Level 4 autonomous driving and an AI-powered virtual assistant.

According to the German auto giant, the new concept cars will reflect the unique identities of its three joint ventures. FAW-Volkswagen will focus on youthful, family-oriented designs that emphasize warmth and approachability. SAIC Volkswagen will highlight premium aesthetics with an elegant, sophisticated, and refined visual language. Meanwhile, Volkswagen Anhui will push the boundaries of innovation with bold, avant-garde styling. This differentiated approach ensures that each model balances functionality with aesthetics while catering to the diverse preferences of Chinese consumers.

Stefan Mecha, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars Brand for China, emphasized the brand's commitment to delivering cutting-edge design and technology tailored to the evolving tastes of Chinese consumers. "Our new China DNA blends timeless design, continuous innovation, and exceptional quality with the latest trends in aesthetics and technology. As we promised, we are further advancing this vision by crafting personalized design languages for different customer segments," he stated.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
