BYD Company Limited (BYD) reported sales of 377,420 new vehicles for the month of March 2025, marking a year-on-year jump of 24.78%, and also showing a month-on-month growth of 16.9%.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited ("BYD") reported sales of 377,420 new vehicles for the month of March 2025, marking a year-on-year jump of 24.78%, and also showing a month-on-month growth of 16.9%.

Of the new vehicles sold last month, passenger vehicle sales reached 371,419 units, a 23.14% increase compared to the prior-year period and a month-on-month growth of 16.71%. Breaking down the sales by powertrain solutions, battery electric vehicle sales totaled 166,109 units, reflecting a year-on-year rise of 18.73%, and also indicating a month-on-month leap of 32.99%. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sales amounted to 205,310 units, showing a year-on-year jump of 26.95% and also posting a 6.2% month-on-month growth, contributing 55.28% to BYD's overall passenger vehicle sales.

Additionally, BYD announced that its overseas sales of new energy vehicles reached 72,723 units in the third month of 2025.

The company also sold 6,001 commercial vehicles last month, which skyrocketed 624.76% over a year earlier and also leapt 30.09% over a month ago.

For the first quarter of 2025, BYD sold a total of 1,000,804 new vehicles, which zoomed up 59.81% over a year earlier. Of those, the passenger vehicle sector contributed sales of 986,098 units (+57.93% YoY), while commercial vehicle sales amounted to 14,706 units (+688.53% YoY).

On March 17, 2025, BYD officially introduced its Super e-Platform, a groundbreaking new energy vehicle (NEV) architecture, and simultaneously opened pre-sales for its Han L and Tang L models.

A key innovation of the Super e-Platform is the industry-first 1,000V high-voltage architecture designed for passenger vehicles. This enables BYD's newly developed "Flash Charging Battery", which, thanks to reduced internal resistance and advanced optimizations, supports up to 1,000A charging current and a 10C charge rate, delivering a maximum charging power of 1 megawatt (1,000kW). The result is an unprecedented charging speed of "2 kilometers of range per second", allowing users to gain 400 kilometers of range in just five minutes, effectively eliminating range anxiety.

Aside from the technology innovation, BYD also put several new vehicle models onto the market in March, including the DENZA N9, the Qin L EV, the Sealion 05 EV, and the YANGWANG U7.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
